Otterbein Birthday Parties

Christ United Methodist Church has been hosting monthly birthday parties at Otterbein Home since January, 1972. Ollie Hall was chairperson from 1972-1982 until she passed away. Since then our church has continued her tradition of service. This year is our 38th.
In recent years several groups and individuals have hosted parties: the Sojourners and Searchers Sunday School classes, Debbie Alexander and the Chancel Choir, United Methodist Women, United Methodist Men, Cherub Choir, Treble Choir, Men’s Chorus, VBS kids, Youth, Carl Heismann, Betsy Balger, Audna Morse, Anna Coucke, Jim Mann, Fred Ward, Linda Frechette, Jim Butch and Francis Higgins. Thank you!
We need help now from others in the church who are willing to share their talents to entertain our Otterbein friends. We also need cakes baked and ice cream purchased each month. Please call Roberta Thaeler at 513-422-0087 if you can help.

Help Needed With Church Yard

Don’t get excited. We are not asking anyone to pick up a garden tool and start to work in our church yard; but we do need help with resources. We need the following items:

All donations can be left in the church library and all items will be used strictly for the church property. Any items which are not completely used this year will be stored for next year’s usage.

Spreading The Word Of God Throughout The World

We are continuing a mission project we started in 2009. Rowena Estill had brought this mission project to our attention. We are requesting that you look around your home for any Christian educational materials which are not currently in use in your home. These items could be old Bibles, New Testaments, Bible study booklets, Sunday school material, magazines, children’s books, etc. Gather them up and put in a box/shopping bag and mark it “Missions” and leave it in the church library.
All collected materials will be transported to Ridgeville Community Church in Springboro, who supports a ministry called “Love Packages,” aimed at putting Christian literature and Bibles in the hands of people around the world.
“Love Packages” is not affiliated with any denomination. However, Ridgeville Community Church in Springboro is actively involved in this mission, and Christ Church previously has donated several boxes of religious materials to Ridgeville for Love Packages.

Shoes For Belize

The Christ Church Missions group is asking your help, again this summer, to gather shoes for children in Belize. A collection barrel has been placed at the top of the stairs. These shoes can either be new or gently used. As Belize has a warm climate, just summer styles are needed. The shoes are needed for all ages. Anyone preferring to donate cash can put it into an envelope and drop it in the barrel. Your donations will be greatly appreciated. Any questions can be directed to Stephanie Record at 513-422-4120

Hospice Care of Middletown

Hospice Care is looking for persons who have a desire to help their neighbors as volunteers. New classes will be starting soon. Must be 18 years of age. Call Kathy Farler at 513-424-2273 or apply on-line at www.hospicecareofmiddletown.com, click on “About Hospice Care of Middletown” and download the application under “Our Volunteers.”

Want to Share?

Everyone appreciates fresh vegetables/produce. If you have “extras” from your garden during the summer season and would like to share, please place them on the table in the library or on the coffee/cookie table in the Narthex.
A note to the congregation: Don’t be bashful – between services or during the week, check the library and/or the coffee/cookie table in the Narthex for the “shared” produce.
